70 Allegheny River Blvd – MVA W/Entrapment

On Saturday evening Stations 285, 222, 227 were alerted for an MVA with entrapment in front of the McDonald’s on Allegheny River Blvd.  285EN & 227RQ arrived on scene, crews stabilized the vehicle.  222RQ arrived and assisted 227RQ with extraction of the patient.  The patient was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Verona Rd @ Graham Blvd Ext – Accident W/Entrapment

On Thursday Rescue 227 & Engine 225 were alerted for a single vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Verona Rd @ Graham Blvd Ext.  225 Chief arrived on scene and confirmed entrapment.  227 Rescue arrived and started stabilizing the vehicle and crews quickly popped the door with the Hurst Spreaders.  The patient was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

MVA With Entrapment – Old William Penn Hwy

On Sunday evening Rescue Companies 227 and 223 were alerted for a two car accident with entrapment on Old William Penn Hwy at McCully Dr. PHPD arrived on scene and confirmed entrapment. 227RQ arrived on scene, the vehicle was stabilized and spreaders were used to quickly gain access to the patients. Both patients were transported to local trauma centers.

MVA with Entrapment – 500-BLK Beulah Rd

On Sunday morning shortly before 4:30am, Stations 225 & 227 were alerted for an MVA with injuries in the 500-blk of Beulah Rd. Medic 952 arrived on scene and reported one male entrapped in the vehicle. 227RQ and 225TK arrived on scene. Fire fighters used spreaders to quickly open the door. 2 patients were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Both units remained on scene to assist PD. PHPD is investigating the cause of the accident.

2nd Alarm Commercial Structure Fire – 839 5th Street

In the early Sunday morning hours Stations 224, 222, 285 were alerted for a commercial structure fire with flames from the 2nd floor. 224EN arrived on scene and requested a 2nd alarm bringing 227 & 223 to the call. 285EN1 secured a water supply. Crews from 222 & 224 started fire attack. 227TK & 227RQ arrived on scene. Crews from both units laddered the building and started ventilation. Units had the fire under control within 20mins. No injuries were reported. ACFM is investigating the cause of the fire.

Male Over 30ft Embankment – Hunter Garden Court Apts

Shortly after 2:00am on Wednesday morning Rescue Companies from 223, 222, 227 were alerted for an elderly male that fell 30ft over a hillside as a result of a foot pursuit with PHPD.  223SV & 227RQ arrived on scene and crews started assessing the situation.  Ropes & Repelling gear was used from 227RQ and 223SV was used as an anchor point.  A Medic from 222RQ navigated down the hill and started patient care. A 35ft ladder was utilized from 223EN and acted as a ramp for rescue works to safely remove the injured prisoner.  Crew operated on scene for about an hour.  Patient care was transferred to PHEMS, the patient was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

2000 Garden Dr – Commercial Structure Fire

At 01:48 in the morning, Stations 223, 226 & 227 were alerted for a possible commercial structure fire at 2000 Garden Dr in Penn Hills. ACES 911 receiving multiple reports of smoke and fire showing from an second story window. Chief 223 requesting next due company, bringing Station 222 to the call. EN-223-2 arrived on scene, heavy smoke showing, one crew taking the hydrant, while the other crew advancing 1.5′ line through the front door. TK-227 arrived on scene and laddered the structure.  Interior crew reporting minor kitchen fire, crews extinguished the fire, and ventilation and overhaul were performed. Crews remained on scene for approx. 2 hours. The scene was turned over the the ACFA and all units returned in service as they picked up. No injuries were reported.

Penn Hills Responders Appreciation Day
