424 Bryant Dr – Structure Fire

On Tuesday, Station 227, 226, 223, 222, 196 were alerted for smoke coming from a structure.  While units were en route, PHPD arrived on scene with smoke coming from the front door.  227EN arrived on scene, crew investigated the source of the smoke, and found a fire in the basement.  Crew brought  attack lines to the rear of the house and made a fast entry into the basement.  The fire was contained to the basement.  Crew from 223 & 222 ventilated and checked for extension.  The Allegheny County Fire Marshall is investigating the fire.  No injuries were reported.

326 Rodi Rd – MVA W/Rollover & Entrapment

On Friday Afternoon, Stations 227, 223, 222 were alerted for a 2 vehicle accident with rollover in front of 326 Rodi Rd.  PHPD arrived on scene confirming entrapment.  Rescue 227 arrived on scene and crews were able to remove the driver of the vehicle.  The drivers of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals with non life threatening injuries.  PHPD is investigating the accident.

Universal Park – UTV Rollover W/Injuries

On Sunday, Rescue 227 was on stand by at Universal Park for the 3rd annual Crawshaw Mud Crawl.  While on stand by, Rescue 227 was notified of a UTV crash with injuries in the area of the Slag Dumps on Old Frankstown.  227RQ and PHEMS located the patient with a moderate arm injury and began patient care.  The patient was stabilized and transported to a local trauma center.

2648 Robinson Blvd – Commercial Apartment Fire

On Tuesday Stations 225, 221, 222, 227 were alerted for an apartment on fire on the 2nd floor of Valmar Garden Apartments.  AC911 started receiving additional calls for the fire.  222EN arrived on scene with smoke showing.  221EN stood by the hydrant.  225TK arrived on scene, crews investigated and found an extinguished grease fire in the kitchen.  The building was vented.  Command cancelled all other units.

11501 Clematis Blvd – Public Service Detail (Dog Rescue)

On Monday evening, PHPD requested 227RQ to assist with a dog stuck behind a retaining wall.  About 15 fire fighters worked for nearly two hours straight carefully digging and removing the retaining wall.  All the hard work paid off when crews were able to free the dog and return her to owner who was anxiously awaiting her return.  Special Thanks to all the 227 fire fighter for all there hard work, Penn Hills Pollution Control, and Nave Plumbing for bringing pipe cameras to the scene.

11507 Frankstown Rd – MVA Over Hill W/Entrapment

On Monday Rescue Companies 227, 222, 223 were alerted for a single vehicle accident, vehicle over a hill with entrapment in the area of 11507 Frankstown Rd.  227RQ arrived on scene with PHEMS & PHPD and found one male patient attempting to climb out of the vehicle.  The vehicle was stablized and the patient was assisted out of the vehicle and up the hill.  All other units were cancelled.  The patient was transported to a local trauma center with non life threatening injuries.

7300-blk Saltsburg Rd – MVA W/Rollover

On Sunday Stations 223 & 226 were alerted for an MVA with rollover in the 7300-blk of Saltsburg Rd. 223 Chief requested 227RQ be added to the call. 223EN1 arrived on scene and found one vehicle had hit two utility pole and had rolled over as a result. The driver was able to exit the vehicle under their own power. 227RQ was cancelled. 226EN remained on scene to wait the arrival of the power company.

643 Homewood Dr – Natural Gas Leak

On Sunday, Station 227 was alerted for a strong smell of natural gas in a structure. 227RQ arrived on scene and crews started to investigate the source of the leak. It was determined that the homeowner accidentally cracked the gas line while moving a dryer. The gas service was shut off to the house and the structure was ventilated.
