8900-blk Frankstown Rd – Structure Fire

On Saturday, Stations 225, 221, 227, 222 were alerted for a residential structure fire in the 8900-blk of Frankstown Rd.  AC911 updated responding units that they were receiving multiple calls reporting the fire.  221EN2 arrived on scene with smoke and fire showing.  227EN arrived on scene and made the water supply to 221EN2.  Heavy fire condition of the “D” side of the building endangered the next door structure.  227 Chief requested a 2nd alarm bringing 285, 224, 223 to the alarm.   Crews from 221 & 227 focused attack line on the “D” side of the structure to protect the exposure building.  Crews from 222 worked the fire from the rear of the structure.  Crews from all Penn Hills Companies worked defensively for about an hour till the flames were brought under control, because of that the exposure building had very minor heat damage to the exterior of the building.  The occupants of the house were transported to a local hospital for evaluation.  One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with a head laceration.  All are expected to make a speedy recovery.  Penn Hills Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

100-Blk of Dauntless Dr – Structure Fire

On Thursday evening, Stations 225, 227, 222 were alerted for smoke coming from the rear of a house in the 100-Blk of Dauntless Dr. PHPD arrived on scene and reported fire from the basement door. St.221 & 223 were added to the alarm. 227EN arrived on scene and crews pulled an attack line to the rear of the house and quickly extinguished the fire. 222EN secured a water supply to 227EN. 221EN laddered the building. 223 & 225 started ventilation. Crews checked for extension, none was found. Homeowners 130lb dog was safely removed from the house. The Penn Hills Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

302 Oakland Ave, NBR – Structure Fire

Shortly before 11am, Station 227 was requested on a 2nd alarm structure fire at 302 Oakland Ave in North Braddock. Crews arrived on scene and were tasked with fire attack of the exposure building. All companies worked extremely hard to bring the fire under control as quickly as possible. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

475 Thompson Run Rd – ATV Accident (Fatal)

On Saturday afternoon, Stations 226 & 227 were alerted for a ATV accident in the area of Slag Dumps of Thompson Run Rd.  FD & EMS arrived on scene and was able to meet up with the call that directed units to the patient.  despite the best efforts of all involved, the patient succumbed to their injuries.  Penn Hills Police are investigating the accident.

100 B St – Commercial Structure Fire

On Monday afternoon, Stations 226, 227, 223, 195 were alerted for a large amount of smoke in the area of Thompson Run Rd.  226EN investigated and found a working commercial structure fire at the vacant Atlas Cement plant.  Due to a lack of available water 195TN, 235TN, WMTN78 were requested for water supply.  226EN deployed multiple attack lines staffed by numerous Penn Hills Fire Stations.  Crews worked for six (6) hours in 90+ degree temperatures.  Only one (1) minor injury was reported.  Penn Hills & Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire.

742 3rd St, VER – Roll Off Dumpster Into Structure

On Monday morning, Station 285, 222, 227 were alerted for a roll off dumpster into a structure.  285EN arrived on scene and confirmed structural damage to the corner of the structure.  227RQ & 222RQ arrived on scene.  Crews used two (2) stabilizing jacks from R-7.  The structure was stabilized and crews returned to service.

Nadine Rd – Accident W/Entrapment

On Monday, Stations 221, 222, 227 were alerted for a two (2) vehicle accident with entrapment. 221EN2 arrived on scene and confirmed two (2) occupants were trapped in the vehicle. 227RQ arrived on scene and crews began stabilizing the vehicle. Crews then began cutting away the drivers side front and rear door. Access was made for the medics to start patient care. Crews for all companies operated on scene for 45mins.

12800-blk Frankstown Rd – Accident W/ejection

Just after 7:00am on Saturday morning, Rescue Companies 227, 223, 222 were alerted for a motor vehicle accident with ejection in the 12800-blk of Frankstown Rd. 227RQ arrived on scene and found a single vehicle into a utility pole with one patient ejected. 227RQ crew assisted PHEMS with patient care. 223EN1 assisted with debris clean up. The patient was transported to a local trauma center with serious injuries. PHPD is investigating the cause of the accident.

Long Rd @ Beulah Rd – Accident W/Injuries

On Wednesday afternoon, Stations 225 and 227 were alerted for a single vehicle with injuries at the intersection of Long Rd @ Beulah Rd. 227RQ arrived on scene to find one patient out of the vehicle on the ground. Two (2) fire fighters started patient care, while the rest started fluid containment. 225EN arrived on scene and crews assisted with clean up. The patient was transported to a local trauma center with moderate non-life threatening injuries.
