Beulah Rd @ Long Rd – Vehicle Into Pole

On Monday Morning Stations 122 & 227 were alerted for a vehicle accident with a vehicle into a pole. Units arrived on scene to find the driver had exited the vehicle. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DWI. Duquesne Light had the roadway shut down for hours while they replaced the utility pole.

Universal Road @ Collins Drive – MVA with rollover

Just before 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving day, Stations 222, 223, and 227 were called to the intersection of Universal Rd and Collins Dr for a reported vehicle rollover with a pole sheared in half. 227 Lieutenant 1 arrived on scene to find one vehicle on its roof and a pole sheared at the base and moderate fluids on the ground. All occupants were able to self extricate on their own. 227 Rescue arrived on scene and controlled the hazards and temporarily shut down Universal Road until the vehicle was removed from the road.

280-BLK Richland Dr – Vehicle Accident With Injuries

On Monday Evening, Stations 227, 222, 223 were alerted for a vehicle into a structure in the 280-BLK of Richland Dr. 227RQ, 227EN, 227CV arrived on scene and found a single vehicle into a retaining wall. There was no damage to the house, all other units were cancelled. 227 personnel stabilized the vehicle and provided patient care till PHEMS arrived on scene.

133 Pennwood Ave, EWD – Residential Structure Fire

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, 227 Rescue was requested on a 2nd alarm structure fire in Edgewood.  227RQ arrived on scene and staged for RIT in the front of the building.  227 Chief was assigned to “Safety Officer” for the fire.  Crews were released from RIT and assisted with overhaul.  227 operated on scene for about 2 1/2 hours.

21 Torrance St – Structural Collapse

Tuesday morning, Stations 221, 225, 227 were alerted for a structural collapse.  221EN arrived on scene and found multiple structures that were effected by this condition.  PH Code Enforcement condemned the structure.  Temporary housing was provide by the REDCROSS.

125 Dalecrest Rd – Physical Rescue

On Tuesday, Rescue companies 222, 223, 227 were alerted for a male that fell 40′-50′ from a tree stand. The male was discovered about 1 mile into the woods over a hillside. A crew from 227 & PHEMS proceeded over the hillside. Once at the patient, he was safely immobilized and the long walk up the hill began. Crew from 227, 222, 223 took turns carrying the stokes basket up the hill. Once the patient was out of the woods, he was transported to the waiting medical helicopter and flown to a local trauma center.

6408 Verona Rd – Residential Structure Fire

Thursday morning, Station 222, 224, 285 were alerted for a residential structure fire.  AC911 reported they were getting additional calls for the fire.  222 Chief requested 227 & 223 added to the alarm.  Crews from 222 stretched attack lines, 285EN secured a water supply.  227TK was instructed to ladder the building and stage to vent the room.  All occupants were able to make it out of the structure safely.  One FF was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.  PH Fire Marshall is investigating the cause.

Saltsburg Rd @ Hulton Rd

On Thursday afternoon, Station 222, 223, 227 were alerted for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.  PHPD arrived on scene and confirmed a crossing guard was stuck by a vehicle and the vehicle hit a utility pole with wires down.  PHEMS transported the patient to a local trauma center.  Fire units stood by on scene till the power company isolated the wires
