The Penn Hills area was hit with some high winds today bringing 7 calls in just 8hrs.

266 Pheasant Dr – Vehicle Rollover

On Wednesday evening Stations 227, 223, 222 were alerted for a single vehicle accident in front of 266 Pheasant Dr.  227CHF arrived on scene with one vehicle on its roof and the driver attempting to get out of the vehicle.  The driver was assisted out of the vehicle.  227RQ arrived on scene and started fluid containment and lighting.  The driver was evaluated by PHEMS and refused medical treatment.  The vehicle was towed and PHPD are investigating the cause of the accident.

Caryl Drive/Tulip Road -Vehicle Over Hillside

 Tuesday morning stations 227 and 223 were alerted for a single vehicle accident involving a vehicle over a hillside. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle with no injuries. 227 arrived on scene assisting with blocking the intersection as they awaited the tow truck. The vehicle was towed back over the hillside and all units returned back in service

9608 Glendale Rd – Vehicle Fire

Shortly after 2am on Monday morning St.225 was alerted for a vehicle on fire on Glendale Rd .  Additional calls to AC911 reported the fire was endangering the structure.  221, 227, 222 were added to the alarm.  225EN arrived on scene with a vehicle fully involved about 5ft away from the structure.  Crews started extinguishing the fire.  227TK arrived and crews were sent inside to check for any extension.  221EN stood by the hydrant and crews assisted in checking for extension.  None was found.  The house was ventilated, and crews returned to service.  PHFM is investigating the cause of the fire.

525-527 Price Ave, NBR – 2 Residential Structure Fires

On Thursday evening, Stations 207, 113, 153, 171 were alerted for two (2) residential structure fires at 525 & 527 Price Ave in North Braddock.  First arriving crews found two (2) structures well off.  Crews started making an attack on the fire.  As fire conditions worsened Incident Command requested a 2nd alarm bringing 137, 227, 192.  227EN responded with a crew of seven (7), once they arrived on scene they were assigned to fire attack on the exposure building.  Crews made good progress and were later relieved by 192EN.  227 Crew went into rehab and was later reassigned to the 2nd floor of the original fire building.  227 operated on scene for about 3 hours.

2744 Ford Ave – Residential Structure Fire

On Monday evening Stations 226, 227, 223 were alerted for a house on fire with three (3) occupants trapped inside the house.  227CHF arrived on scene with fire showing from the garage and living room.  All occupants were accounted for.  227EN arrived on scene and crews deployed two (2) attack line to the living room and garage area.  226EN secured a water supply to 227EN.  223EN & 227TK arrived and crews assisted those firefighters inside the house.  Crews attempting to check for extension on the 2nd floor found Hording conditions and were unable to complete that task.  Crews operating in the rear of the house noticed the roof start to collapse.  All units were evacuated from the house and crews operated attack lines from the outside.  The fire was finally brought under control.  Companies operated on scene for about 3 hours, and in that time NO injuries were reported.

In 2015 Station 227 answered 738 calls for service.  This would not be possible without the outstanding and dedicated fire fighters of St.227 and the entire PHVFD’s.  Below are call number by incident types.

284 Yosemite Dr – Residential Structure Fire

At 9:45 am Thursday, Stations 222, 223, 226, 227 and 196 were alerted for a reported kitchen on fire. 223 Chief and 516FM arrived on scene within minutes and confirmed a fire in the kitchen. With the update, 225 Truck was added to the call for additional manpower. 516FM was able to make entry and quickly knock back the bulk of the fire with an extinguisher and keep it contained until 227 Engine arrived to deploy a hose line. The fire was able to be contained to the kitchen with no spread to other rooms. Crews were on scene for about an hour. Penn Hills Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

Seneca Park – Vehicle Over Hillside

Wednesday afternoon stations 225 and 227 were alerted for a traffic accident involving a suv over a hillside into a creek. 225 & 227 arrived on scene.  Crews used ropes to safely desend over the hillside to check for occupants. The vehicle was determined to be unoccupied. Units from 227 would later cut a path for the tow truck to retrieve the vehicle out of the creek. The vehicle was towed, and all units returned back in service.  PHPD is investigating the cause of the accident.

120 Orchard Dr – Rollover Possible Entrapment

On Tuesday, Stations 227, 223, 222 were alerted for a single vehicle rollover with possible entrapment.  227RQ arrived on scene and the driver was able to get out of the vehicle under their own power.  All other units were cancelled.  227RQ stood by till the vehicle was towed away.
