100-blk Sandy Creek Rd – Accident w/Entrapment

On Friday morning shortly after 2am Station 222 was alerted for a reported vehicle vs garbage truck and one vehicle on fire. PHPD arrived on scene and reported heavy entrapment. 222CHF requested 227RQ and 223EN to the scene. 222EN arrived on scene and the fire was out. Crews started to stabilize the vehicle. 227RQ and 223EN arrived on scene and crews started daunting task of freeing the driver of the vehicle. All rescue companies worked for an hour and were able to free the driver. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local trauma center. PHPD are investigating the cause of the accident.

300-blk Springwood Dr – Residential Structure Fire

Shortly before 4am on Tuesday, Stations 224, 223, 222, 227, 285 were alerted for a house on fire in the 300-blk of Springwood Dr. PHPD arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire in the basement and all occupants were out of the building. 227TK arrived on scene and crew deployed an attack line to the rear of the structure and entered into the basement. 223EN secured a water supply to 227TK. 222EN deployed another attack line to the first floor. Crews from 223, 224, 285 check the house for extension and started venting the house. The fire was brought under control in about 20mins. No injuries were reported. The Penn Hills Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

100-blk of Crescent Hills Rd – Residential Structure Fire

On Sunday evening, Station 227, 223, 222, 225, 196 were alerted for a residential structure in the 100-blk of Crescent Hills Rd. PHPD arrived on scene reporting a working fire on the 1st and 2nd floor. 227TK arrived on scene with flames from the 1st and 2nd floor. Command confirmed all occupants were accounted for. 227TK crew advanced an attack line into the first floor. 223EN arrived on scene and took another attack to the second floor. 222EN assisted with a water supply to 227TK. 225TK was tasked to ventilate the roof. Crews from all companies worked to bring the fire under control within 30mins. No injuries were reported. The PHFM is investigating the cause of the fire.

1000-blk 1st Ave, Ver – Residential Structure Fire

On Saturday shortly after 1230 pm, Stations 285, 216, 222, 224, 225, 227 were alerted to the 1000 Block of 1st Avenue for a reported house on fire. 285 Chief arrived on scene reporting a working fire. 224EN arrived on scene securing a water supply. 216EN along with crews from 285, 222 advanced hose lines to the 3rd floor. 227TK along with 225TK went to work on the roof for ventilation. Crews worked the scene for 2 hrs putting out hot spots and cleaning up. The Red Cross is assisting with putting up 3 adults and 10 children. No injuries were reported.

10718 Frankstown Rd – Commercial Structure Fire

On Wednesday morning, Stations 225, 227, 222, 223 were alerted for a commercial structure fire in the Ritzland Shopping Plaza.  PHPD arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire.  227TK arrived on scene with smoke and flames visible.  225AST requested St 285 & 196 added to the call.  225TK arrived on scene and position for roof operations.  227TK crew advanced attack lines into the building.  227EN secured a water supply to 227TK.  Crews from 223EN assisted with fire attack.  Crews from 222 and 285 check the neighboring businesses for extension.  Crews found smoke conditions in numerous businesses.  The fire was brought under control within 30mins.  196RQ was reassigned to stand by at Station 227.  No injuries were reported, PHFM is investigating the cause of the fire.

230-blk MacFarlane Dr – Auto-Pedestrian Accident

On Monday evening Stations 225 and 227 were alerted for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 230-blk of Macfarlane Dr. 227CHF arrived on scene to find a two (2) car accident and one male struck by a vehicle down in a yard. 227RQ arrived on scene and assisted with patient care. 225SS arrived on scene and started fluid containment. The patient was transported to a local hospital. PHPD is investigating the cause of the accident

150-blk Universal Rd – Residential Structure Fire

On Saturday evening, Stations 227, 222, 223, 225, 196 were alerted for smoke coming from a structure in the 150-blk of Universal Rd. 227EN arrived on scene with smoke and fire showing. 227EN pulled attack lines and proceeded into the house. 223EN arrived on scene and established a water supply to 227EN. Crews from 222, 223, 225 assisted with overhaul and checking for extension. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injuries. The Penn Hills Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

Rodi @ Wm Penn Hwy – 10 Car Accident w/Entrapment

On Friday, shortly after 1:15pm Stations 122 and 302 were alerted for a ten (10) car accident at the intersection of Rodi and William Penn Hwy. 122CHF arrived on scene and confirmed the multi-Vehicle accident and discovered one vehicle had entrapment. 227RQ was requested to the scene. The patient was freed from the vehicle a short time later. Crews spent over 4hrs operating on scene. Churchill PD and PSP are investigating the cause of the accident.

Penn Arbors Apts – Smoke In The Building

On Monday evening, Stations 225 and 227 were alerted for a commercial fire alarm at Penn Arbors Apartments. 227TK arrived on scene and got an additional report of smoke on the 8th floor. The alarm was upgraded bringing 222, 223, 285, 196 to the call. 227TK crew arrived on the 8th floor and a moderate smoke condition in the hallway. 227TK crew found burnt food that was left unattended. 225TK and 222EN crew assisted with ventilation. 223EN and 285EN stood by at the hydrant. All other units were cancelled. No injuries were reported.

Penn Arbors Apts – Commercial Structure Fire

On Monday afternoon Station 225 & 227 were alerted for a commercial fire alarm at Penn Arbors Apartments. 227TK arrived on scene and was advised by management that there was a bedroom on fire on the 7th floor. 227CHF assumed command and requested the alarm be upgraded bringing Stations 222, 223, 285. 227 crew made in to the 7th floor with smoke showing and found a small fire in the bedroom of an apartment. Crews were able to extinguish the fire with a water can. 227EN arrived on scene and their crew started ventilation. 223EN arrived and crews started checking for smoke extension throughout the building. All other units were cancelled. No injuries were reported. Penn Hills Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
