125 Dalecrest Rd – Physical Rescue

On Tuesday, Rescue companies 222, 223, 227 were alerted for a male that fell 40′-50′ from a tree stand. The male was discovered about 1 mile into the woods over a hillside. A crew from 227 & PHEMS proceeded over the hillside. Once at the patient, he was safely immobilized and the long walk up the hill began. Crew from 227, 222, 223 took turns carrying the stokes basket up the hill. Once the patient was out of the woods, he was transported to the waiting medical helicopter and flown to a local trauma center.

6408 Verona Rd – Residential Structure Fire

Thursday morning, Station 222, 224, 285 were alerted for a residential structure fire.  AC911 reported they were getting additional calls for the fire.  222 Chief requested 227 & 223 added to the alarm.  Crews from 222 stretched attack lines, 285EN secured a water supply.  227TK was instructed to ladder the building and stage to vent the room.  All occupants were able to make it out of the structure safely.  One FF was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.  PH Fire Marshall is investigating the cause.

Company Drill Night – Aerial Maintenance

Tonight members put Truck 227 out of service for about 2 hours for regular maintenance.  All of the aerial lubricant was removed an the surface was cleaned.  New , clean lubricant was applied.  This process took about 2.5 hours, with members doing the work and not contracting a third party saved the department about $2,000.

Saltsburg Rd @ Hulton Rd

On Thursday afternoon, Station 222, 223, 227 were alerted for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.  PHPD arrived on scene and confirmed a crossing guard was stuck by a vehicle and the vehicle hit a utility pole with wires down.  PHEMS transported the patient to a local trauma center.  Fire units stood by on scene till the power company isolated the wires

333 Stotler Rd – Possible Basement Fire

On Wednesday evening, Stations 226, 227, 223 were alerted for a possible basement fire.  227TK arrived on scene and discovered a small fire in a waste basket from a discarded cigarette.  The house was ventilated and the homeowner was advised.  No damage to the property.

Verona Rd @ Mt Carmel Rd – Rollover W/Possible Entrapment

On Thursday morning Stations 225 and 227 were alerted around 2:30am for vehicle rollover on its roof with entrapment.  225EN1 and 225 Asst. arrived finding a single Vehicle on its roof with the drive self extricated down in the roadway. Medic 380 assumed patient care and assignment was held to 225EN. Crews stood by until the vehicle was up righted and did some fluid containment and Debris clean up.

Rodi Rd @ Morrow Dr – Vehicle Accident W/Injuries

Just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, stations 227, 223 and 222 were called to the intersection of Rodi Rd & Morrow Dr for a reported vehicle accident with possible entrapment. EMS arrived on scene and confirmed that there was no entrapment, however there was copious amounts of fluids and debris all over the roadway. Crews from 227, 223 and 222 responded and closed the roadway off to control and remove all the hazards from the roadway and await for the tow trucks. Crews operated on scene for just over an hour.

11125 Frankstown Rd – Vehicle Into Structure

On Tuesday evening, Stations 225 & 227 were alerted for a vehicle into a commercial structure at Penn Hills Rental.  225EN arrived on scene and found one vehicle that hit the “A” / “D” corner of the building.  Both crews assisted with traffic control and structural stability.  No injuries were reported.  PHPD is investigating the accident.

7605 Saltsburg Rd – Trailer Fire

On Tuesday afternoon, Stations 226, 223, 227 were alerted for a trailer on fire in the parking lot of the Penn Hills Missionary Alliance Church.  226EN arrived on scene and reported a trailer to a tar truck was on fire.  Units from 223 & 227 assisted extinguishing the fire.  No injuries were reported.
