1700-blk Gopher Way – Residential Structure Fire

On Monday morning Stations 221, 222, 225, 227, 137 were alerted for smoke coming from a house at the intersection of Gopher Way at Mt. Carmel Rd.  221EN arrived on scene with smoke in the area with smoke showing.  Due to the close proximity on the Penn Hills/PGH City boarder PBF responded also.  Both PHVFD and PBF contained the fire and all fire crews returned in service.  PBF is investigating the cause of the fire.

81.8 Mile Marker I-376 WB – Vehicle Rollover

On Saturday morning, Truck 227 was requested to standby at Monroeville St.5 while crews were operating an accident on the turnpike.  While on standby, 227 was alerted for a vehicle rollover in the 81.8 mile marker I-376 WB.  227TK arrived on scene to find one vehicle on its side with a light pole down.  The driver was already out of the vehicle, fire fighters provided BLS care till EMS arrived.  Debris was cleaned off the highway and crews returned back in service about 45mins later.

700-Blk Macfarlane Dr – Vehicle Into Utility Pole

On Tuesday, Stations 225 and 227 were alerted for a single vehicle accident in the 700-blk of Macfarlane Dr.  227 Chief arrived on scene to find one vehicle hit a utility pole with wires down.  The driver was already out of the vehicle.  227 units provided traffic control till the utility company could take control of the street.

320-blk Stotler Rd – Vehicle Rollover

On Monday morning, Stations 227, 223, 222 were alerted for a vehicle accident with rollover in the 320-blk of Stotler Rd.  PHPD arrived on scene to find the driver was able to climb out of a window.  227RQ was requested for lighting.  The driver was transported to a local trauma center with non-life threatening injuries.  PHPD are investigating the cause of the accident.

7 Storm Related Calls – Water Rescue Rodi Rd

This afternoon the Penn Hills area was hit with strong thunderstorms and heavy rains.  Station 227 answered 7 storm related calls in 2 hours.  PHPD requested traffic control assistance in the 600-blk of Rodi Rd due to a flooded roadway.  227RQ responded and set up barricades to block motorists.  One particular vehicle had more important things to do.  That vehicle drove around the barriers and attempted to cross the flooded roadway, the occupants quickly realized they made a poor decision.  The vehicle entered the 5′ deep water and quickly stalled out, trapping the 3 occupants.  227RQ quickly went into water rescue mode.  Rescuers with flotation devices and tag lines from 227 made their way to the occupants.  223EN1 arrived and staged 2 rescuers as a back up.  One by one the occupants put on a flotation device and we safely put back on solid ground.

565 Lobinger Ave – Residential Structure Fire

On Sunday evening, Station 227 was requested on a 2 alarm fire into North Braddock at 565 Lobinger Ave.  Crews arrived on scene with 3 houses on fire.  8 firefighters from 227 were assigned fire suppression in the left exposure building.  Crews worked extremely hard to contain the fire.  Crews were able to locate a dog inside the building and safely return it to its owners.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Allegheny County Fire Marshal.

6300-blk Saltsburg Rd – Vehicle Fire

On Monday afternoon, Stations 223 and 227 responded to the 6300-blk of Saltsburg Rd for a reported vehicle on fire.  PHPD arrived on scene and reported a box truck well off.  227EN arrived on scene and crews stretch an attack line.  223EN arrived and started to transfer water to 227EN.

9800-blk Frankstown Rd – MVA w/Injuries 

On Thursday, Stations 225 and 227 were alerted for a two vehicle accident in the 9800-blk of Frankstown Rd. Units arrived on scene to find 2 vehicle with moderate damage, and all occupants were out of the vehicle. PHEMS evaluated 2 patients. Fire units removed debris and hazards from the roadway.

340-blk Bryant Dr – Vehicle Fire

On Saturday Stations 227 & 225 were alerted for a vehicle on fire as a result of a single vehicle accident.  227EN arrived on scene with a fully involved vehicle fire and live power lines down in the 340-blk of Bryant Dr.  Crews were forced to standby and wait till Duquesne Light could secure the power.  PHEMS transported one patient to a local hospital and PHPD arrest one individual at the scene.
